After three days of working together the All Stars performed in Napier at lunch time today. They played Amazing Grace and then some 2/4 marches before heading off for lunch. Its good to be working with such a bunch of keen and capable young people. Thanks also to the senior members who put in a lot of time and effort to helping our learners and youngsters

The Band’s All Stars were involved in a holiday workshop in July and then all members performed at a Recital held on Sunday 24th at the Tamatea Community Church.
The workshops gave them a chance to work together as a group and to get some one-on-one tuition from our experienced tutors.

The National Brass Band contest has been held in Napier over the past few days and the North Shore Brass band has made use of our band rooms for their practices.
Once again the band was out and about on Anzac Day. Pipers and drummers participated in the dawn services in Napier and Taradale and then the band lead the parade through Taradale to the clock tower where two pipers played the lament. Hugh, Richard and Geoff then went into Napier to be part of the morning service there while the rest of the band went down to Waipawa where we lead the service men and women to the clock tower on the main road. Then it was back to Taradale to play for the people enjoying the fellowship at the RSA.

On Saturday 23 April 2016 the band played for the NZVY Charter Parade at Napier’s Sound Shell. A big crowd was in town to see the crew of HMNZS Te Kaha receive the charter.

On Friday 15 April the NZ Foundation Youth Pipe Band visited Nelson Park School. The band performed some of its music and invited the children to ‘have a go’.

Links with pipe bands and Ahuriri go back several generations with many of us recalling the days of the Port Ahuriri Pipe Band.
